When you do a typical search on the web, you type in three or four or five words and get back tens of thousands of links. That does not make your search easier. It makes it more difficult, more time-consuming and more frustrating.
What slows down your search and makes the results you get too broad is an Internet search technology called SEO (search engine optimization). The simplified aim of SEO is to move a particular site up to the top position in the natural search. This means when you execute a typical search, the results you receive are flooded with links to websites that are being aggressively promoted. They are not necessarily the best results for you and your particular search.
There is an excellent chance that a webpage containing exactly what you are looking for might be pages and pages beyond the first page of results, only because the website is not being pushed by its owners.
We want you to get the search results you want without all the extra sites that you do not need.
So we have developed an advancement in search technology. You choose the category for your search - reference/research, health, music, jobs - and enter your search words. Using the world-famous Google search algorithm, we search through a directory of top sites that are not determined by SEO but by using both advanced statistical analysis (measuring the number of visitors, link clicks, the time spent by each visitor, and other factors) and human editing. That way, the results of your search are concentrated right where you want them!
If our directory does not have the perfect site for your search, we then go through the rest of the web using the Google search algorithm to find that site.
We are committed to ongoing improvement of our search engine, so please click on "Comments" at the bottom of the page, and let us know what you think.
It depends which browser you are using. Here are some instructions for changing your home page setting.
There is a significant difference in energy consumption between black and white screens for CRT monitors. CCFL backlit LCD screens are less affected by color because of their constant backlight. However, new monitor technologies such as LED backlit LCDs screens, Plasma screens and OLED screens do not have a constant backlight so we will see larger energy savings with Yursearch Black as these new monitors replace the old CCFL LCDs. This is exactly why we have two websites to serve you and your computer's specifications. While technology is constantly changing the need to take steps to save energy (even small amounts of energy) is constant.
